Lookin to get an A2 but don't think i can afford the sport, Other than the bigger wheels and better engine, what are the differences?

AFAIK, the sport has the same engine as the SE/base models, the differences are; 17" wheels, suspension lowered & tuned by quattro GMBH (ie firmer) DIS as standard, Sports seats (which are great!!).
What engine/year A2 are you looking for? I've just bought a 1.6fsi sport, and had to search for a while to find the right one, but it was worth it!

I think for some weird reason all (or some of the older) Sport models also come sans front fog lights...

Nah, my Sport does not have front Fogs, they are an option on every model except the SE's I think.

I can recommend the Sport model but watch them Alloys, the profile of the rubber is LOW.
When I was looking for an A2, I wanted the Sport model, coz I think the 17"s just make the car that little more special than it already is.
As TallPaul states the seats are excellent.
