One thing to note is how out the DIS is, it is very optomistic on some cars. And once you chip your car it throws it completely, when I chipped our A3 it went from 47mpg to nealry 60mpg on the DIS, but fuel consumtion didn't really alter.

had the first chance at a decent run recently, down to Plymouth and back - average showed 65mpg (1.4 Tdi 75ps) - approx 450 miles on car, so still loosening up somewhat - economy appears to be getting better incrementally.

Just done 350 mile round trip- averaged 62.2mpg.
Mostly motorway between 80 and 100 all the way.
1.4 tdi 75.
5000 miles on clock 2005 model.
cheers

sounds about right - I was doing 70-75, but there were quite a few 40-50 limits in force (which I stuck too).

I have wondered about these ECU chips/remaps and how the mpg calculations are done - it doesn't make sense that many people report increases in economy ?

one thing I have noticed is the 'remaining range' readout is hopelessy optimistic when the tank is over half full.. It was telling me I could still do 400 miles on just over half full.

I think that maybe my DIS is actually being conservative, first time with any car I have owned, I did 442 miles on a tank brimmed to the top before filling up again, and then managed to squeeze 32 litres of diesel in.
The DIS was showing just over 50mpg but my my calculation that is 62.5mpg?
This is almost 50% more than I was getting from our A4 tdi, so after a year or 15-20,000 miles it should show a fair saving.

Last tank full in the Honda was the best yet, 54.8 mpg over 663 (!!!) miles. Included runs to Hammersmith (M4 at 8:45)and Wigan (M6 on a Friday) so could have been better. Still had 5 litres left and Sainsbury's was 94.9 with 5p/litre off that - still cost nearly £50 to fill it.

Will have to be really gentle with the right foot and see what it can achieve.

A3 averaging 52....quite pleased[37]

Your mind is best kept like a parachute.
A2 1.4 SE TDI replaced with a subtle, refined, pre schnoz design A3 2.0TDI DSG, the transmission of the future - today.

Our A2 has just had it's 2nd service (60,200 miles) and has run at 57.5mpg over the first tank full after. This is about 5mpg better than usual - strange given that I didn't think we'd been on any longer journeys...

I'm currently getting around 32-33mpg (going by the dis) on a 1.6fsi, and thats on a full tank of BP Ultimate!![13] I do alot of short journeys though, ie 2.5 miles in morning and again in evening to work and back mostly.

My old car would have warmed up fully by about 1/3 way to work, but the a2 has only warmed up fully when I get to at work! This probably badly affects the mpg, I'm sure i could get 40-45mpg on a long run/once car is properly warmed up.

Nice Pic Tall paul!

Now we are at over £1 a litre for 98 Octane UL, with diesel at 97ppl - i'm not gettting rid of the A2 1.2 TDI for a long while yet! Got over 90 mpg average on a tank recently!
