ECU's and toll booths?

I was driving down the M6 yesterday, and the weather was awful. I decided to take the toll road to save a bit of time: I paid the toll charge and drove off only to find my car was lacking in power - similar to having the handbrake nearly full on.

I ended up nursing the car home and switched off. On starting up this morning everything was fine.

I was driving to work today pondering on the problem and remembered that I had the same fault occur on a previous car ( a Mercedes E240) when I suddenly realised that it had happened as I pulled away from the Dartford toll booth:eek:

So, both times this has occured at an electronic toll booth - a coincidence? or has anyone else here experienced this before?

Very strange:confused:

I've used the toll road plenty of times on the M6 and haven't ever experienced what you talk about.

Maybe you have a poltogiest:rolleyes:

I have used the M6 tolls and the Dartford tolls in my A2 loads of times and not had these problems. I was talking to an owner of a Merc E class the other day who said it had happened to him too.

Now for this to happen twice at toll booths in two different cars could be just a coincidence - but I don't think so.

Does anyone here have any tech info on the electronics used at toll booths and whether they could upset our cars ECU?

Calling Skipton ..........Calling Skipton!! Skipton the phone please.
Can you shed any light on this?
