Should the engine management light illuminate on my 1.6 FSI when the engine is off?

This is the behaviour I have seen on all my previous cars, however on the Audi, the light doesn't illuminate in this way.

yes, there is. When you turn the key to position II, before starting, both the engine management and EPC lights come on. They go off again after a couple of seconds.

I got Traction Control, EPC, Immobliser (I think?, a car and a key?), ABS and Battery lights come on, EPC and Battery stay until I start the car.

No picture of an engine briefly appears, which is what i'd expect?

Hmm, OK. So any thoughts why mine doesn't appear in this way? Is it definitely the same on 1.6 FSIs?

I'm now wondering if it's possible the person that sold me the car (with a fault) somehow disconnected it?

no, it's an LED. Unless they blocked off from behind the tacho scales, which would be very, very extreme.

What's the fault? How do you know it should be on?

I don't, i'm just curious and suspicious, set off by the fact I don't see it even briefly when I turn the key... heh!
