exhaust pipe

have just bought a replacement back box for 1.4tdi, ebay good price brand new, but got it and found it fairly heftily 'squeezed' on one of the pipes. It isn't too near to the pipe ends so should cause any clamping problems, but wondered if it would have any detriment to exhaust flow etc.
Any thoughts?

While going on a tour of the Jaguar Brown's Lane plant, I watched the highly skilled assembly line workers whacking the exhausts with heavy rubber mallets so that they fitted around the rear suspension. I wouldn't think you'll notice that much difference in flow if its near the back box, but it might help it to rust nicely.
