FSI Inlet Manifold Change-Over Valve?

Hi, I have just the one fault code remaining on the fsi fixer upper which is a very good thing but I'm now in need of an inlet manifold change-over valve and am struggling to find the correct part.

I understand the original part was made by Pierburg but both Ecp and gsf don't seem to have the part unless it also goes by another name so if anyone would have the part number (or even better the part itself) that would really help?

Thank you 👍

I have fixed mine a long time ago but from what I can remember this can happen in any (possibly) of the following cases:

1. The ecu dictates the N316 solenoid to actuate the flaps. If this does not happen then the potentiometer that monitors its position does not reach the "setpoint".

2. The actual feedback mechanism, i.e., the potentiometer is faulty thus the "setpoint" cannot be reached.

3. The actual flaps are stuck.

The above can also be attributed to wiring loom issues.

Good Afternoon,

I think what you are describing is item 42 here

Yes, Pierburg made the original, still make them though on version 4 now. I paid £45 on ebay a couple of years ago but cheaper aftermarket brands available, common item used on many models.

HOWEVER don't buy until you have tested to check it is faulty, I suspect it may be something else causing this fault code to appear.

As Evros has alluded to 17439/P1031 can be a mountain to climb, lots of reading on here if you wish, this will give you a flavour

Lets just hope it is as simple as a faulty solenoid valve.

Andy

Edit. I see you have been around for a while so you are probably aware.

Try removing the vaccum hose and "suck" it (no pun intended) either "manually" or using a syringe or bleeding kit.

You should be able to hear the flaps moving and see the actuating arm move along with them.

Thank you both 👍

Although I've owned many A2's over many years, the FSI is a totally new experience for me having never owned a petrol A2 before and so a real learning curve and i really do appreciate all advice given 👍

Have a read of this, it'll give you an insight into Fsi'ology.
Mac.
