I was under the impression that the new A2's had the bigger 42L tanks,, but my March 2003 A2 has a 34L,, is this correct in terms of date stamping.

Also the DIS started to report 430m to go after a refuel now it starts of saying 330m to go but then catches up with itself about 100m later, is this the norm..

Cheers... Erskine

If yours is a genuine March 2003 car it shouldn't have a 34 litre tank. All cars were fitted with 42l tanks from about July last year. I've read somewhere that you need to look at the VIN number - if the number after the 'N' is a 3 its a latest model, if its a 2 you've been sold an old model as new.

This sounds like another case of Audi fobbing off the UK buyers with whatever is left over in the factory - a la floppy wipers!!

DIS indications ARE normal - it will depend on your driving style as it will recalculate miles to go - try driving at a constant 55mph for 30 mins or so if poss and see what DIS says then try on motorway a steady 80 and note the drop!

Yep, DIS is a wonderful thing. I have to remind myself sometimes that it's not a game, e.g. trying to get the highest average MPG out of it by freewheeling as much as possible, etc.

Shame I can't save my highest score! [8D]

Well one long chat later with one AKA salesperson from Audi.. seems like I have a 42L tank but the DIS will drop to zero miles to go and still have a reserve of 10L,, ummm do I really want to test this one out..

The Miles to empty function is the main reason why I specced my car with DIS... can't live without it now I must say... it is so much more useful than just the normal fuel indicator - which in DIS equiped cars might as well be a compass or something as far as I'm concerned: I NEVER look at it...

Agreed, when I'm not playing with it I leave it in miles to empty. THat way I can usually guage whether I have enough to make it somewhere and back and whether I have to go hard or easy on the pedal. Also good for judging which services to stop at, i.e. if you don't want to stop at the one with the Wimpy, but have enough to get you to the one with the BK & KFC - yum!

I don't have DIS but have worked out (over time) that when it bongs I have about 60 miles before I realy need to fill up.

Even with my lead foot.

My Wk40/2002 A2 (2003 model) has a '0' after the N, yet it definitely has a 42l tank.

I now know that mine is truely a 2003 model.

In my pursuit to fit a new audio set-up, I have had the interior stripped to the shell and just about everything has a date stamp on it and I can clearly see products that are dated in Feb 2003 on there.
