Got carried away and bought another A2 - now what to do with it.?

Did you check your brake light operation before you get the scan? It is not as daft as it sounds.

If the switch is on the way out it might APPEAR to be working, worth checking several presses.

The scan should tell you if it is the ABS sensor, G200 or ABS unit. (the ABS unit would be the least likely.

Not yet and no scan yet either, as I am still away with work. And I am only going to be home over the weekend before heading off to Kuala Lumpur for 9 days. And I not sure the missus will be to happy if I spend to much time in the garage this weekend, so most likely I'll just have time to check the basic stuff this weekend, and perhaps a scan if I'm lucky..

But when I'm back from KL, I'm off for some 9-10 days with plenty of time to play with cars.. :)

Hey Darko ,

Do you have a cradle like the one shown in the pic (above link), if so you can get an RSAP adaptor like the ones below. The second will need a multifunction steering wheel or RNS E otherwise you will need to use the phone to answer/pick up call. These units allow you to pair with the car via RSAP protocol, essentially the cars hands free becomes your phone by accessing your sim directly, this disables the phones internal antenna. The phone can power down, save power and reduce radiation within the car. Prior to these RSAP bluetooth units you needed to buy a phone specific adaptor hence their introduction. BTW note that I Phones do not support RSAP protocols but most android phones do.

If you don't have one of the cradles as part of the system installed in the car then one can be installed but some re-wiring will be needed. As mentioned Cragyb has done this and is more of an expert on these units but good luck getting a response. This system in an OSS equipped car is rare, as is the special induction coupled GSM antenna on the roof.
I will be doing a retrofit of this system in my RNS E , OSS and Bluetooth equipped car. I will not be using the special OEM antenna and instead use a glass specific GSM antenna from Pannorama. Will report back on how I get on.

Thanks Max, I have Nokia 6310i cradle and the phone too, when I plug it in, the radio display reads 'Phone', so there is some hand-free installed...

Sorry Alex that I hijacked your thread :)

No worries about hijacking.. I find this interesting too, not least because my car also has this feature and I always like to learn to stuff about our cars..

Me too. In most cases, I have no idea what guys here are talking about :)

Looking at the pics it looks like the RSAP cradles will not be compatible with this system unless you replace the connector in your car with the base unit shown in the first photo on my post.

You should also check if audi sell an adaptor that plugs from the socket in your car to one of the two RSAP units?

BTW most of us on here are making things up as we go along, i.e tinkering with mods. This particular aspect of A2's has not really been covered on this forum and little info exists online, keep an eye out for my retrofit.

I though it won't be compatible.

What I did now was getting a cheap prepaid sim card and this thing works!

Just have to figure out how to adjust the speakers and microphone volume, the speakers are so loud.
What I can do on the radio is to chose which speaker to use, each one alone or both.

I don't know where the mic was hidden, but it works too!

Well, I can send all incomming calls to this new number and use the hand free with 6310i as it is :)

As for the volume of the incoming call have you tried using the radio volume control when you are receiving the call.

On most systems this controls the speaker volume of the call without changing the normal radio speaker volume.

So get someone to call you and while they are talking adjust the volume on the radio and see if that just affects the call volume.

Sounds like a plan, the volume issue seems to have been covered by Steve. I have reduced the volume on my bluetooth hands free kit this way.

The microphone is next to the interior light above your head.

Does anyone have a manual that accompanies such a kit that can be put up on the forum?

Thanks Steve, thanks Max.
I have no manual, I don't think the previous owner had the Nokia hand set at all, I got it from another guy.
Maybe the Parts Base helps, I'm sure now everything described has been factory installed

The phone holder itself is illustrated here

And the phone connection set Nokia 6310i here

With this kit, the radio volume doesn't control anything when the phone is on, or receiving the call, the left radio button is inactive.

The call cuts off the radio/cd sound, and the 'Phone' is on the display, but the speakers volume is controlled by the phone's own volume.

The right button on the radio is active, when you press the sound button, there you can chose which speaker to use (L, R, L+R).

Tested the whole thing when my mother called, she said she could hear me nice and clear.
I turned the phone volume down to 1, turned to 2 was pretty loud, I saw people on the parking lot were wondering where the noise came from.
I believe the phone on 2 will be good when driving.

I'm still trying to find some sort of guide on how to remove the dash before I have a go at it, so if anyone knows where to look or has some how to advise, please let me know..

I think my plan for now is to swap seats and possible the double din unit if its not to difficult, as I would really like RNS-E in my silver car. Then fix the ABS/ESP issue with the black car and sell it off to a new home. Even without the double din and with leather seats instead of alcantara, I still think its a great and well equipped car..
