So, MOT coming up and car was as above.
(indicators working as they should)
I managed to get the relay out
Took relay apart
Checked for dry joints - none
connected the relay back without the the casing on, so i could see the little copper tick-tock switches
noticed the indicator one only has 1 contact, the hazards have 2 contacts. cleaned tiny contact breakers with a tiny strip of fine grade wet'n'dry paper
jiggled the tiny contact breakers around to check they were bedding and making contact
and would you believe it - it worked!!
for now? we'll see
new relay is 90 quid, so had little to lose.
Not for the faint hearted if you like to keep fragile plastic all in tact!
