Headlight Removal

Massive thank you to Mr @Clackers today for saving my bacon once again. Always goes above and beyond - we are very lucky to have him as part of our club. Lots of issues fixed today some I didn’t even realise were issues. Opening my driver side door and not annoying everybody within 5 miles is a wonderful feeling 🤣 Unapologetic plug, if you are anywhere near North Wales and need some bits, give him a shout!

Wow,what can I say, thank you for your kind words pal.
We are a good bunch on here who, when needed, pull out the stops to help each other. I'm still smiling at your face when we repaired your headlight nut...
Always happy to help, and a pleasure seeing you.
Andy

All sorted. Managed to remove the river nut off my breaker, then Q bond it into @froggy slam panel, then fit the headlight. All is good and it lives to fight another day. 👍👍👍
I pretty much wrecked the hexagon nut and circular plastic attached to the headlight removing the lower torx bolt. It might be worth (for anybody who hasn’t already removed their own headlights for bulb changes or cleaning) soaking the screws in some good penetrating fluid for a few days prior to removal, to help avoid the issue I had? Not many of us have a helpful expert on their doorstep to rescue them!!

With darkness and rain approaching and limited time I rushed a job which needed more care. Maybe others can learn from my mistakes and avoid a disaster?

In Fairness Rob, you had done the best job possible with the sitiuation you were faced with. Thankfully we managed to sort it though pal, and sometimes its having the right equipment available to you.
I for one, don't have a dremel to remove to the point you did, but I did have Q bond and the riv nut, so between us we got there. Must also add that the smile on your face was priceless when you opened and closed your door!!!! Its the small things eh?

🤣 Agreed, the small things are sometimes by far the best things. I keep opening the door with far too much force after getting used to the worn rollers, nearly knocked myself over with it this morning - it’s that smooth now!
