Hello A2 fans,

I'd like to know HOW can I activate heated mirrors. A2 user's guide is not clear about. On my previous VW Golf IV (as on many other cars) they were manually activated by turning on the rear glass defroster (and it seems logic to me). Now I don't understand if this works on my A2 too (sometimes it seems to work, other times it doesn't).

May my A2 (or I !!!) have some problem?

PS I chosed heated mirrors from accessory list (I've paid for them!!!) because I find them very useful when it rains (without heater it is impossible to view anything in rear mirrors due to rain drops).

Any suggestion??

Mauro.

I may be talking (writing) a complete load of C**P but are they not fused seperatly to the heated rear window and are they not on a pulse system (on off of off) as not to generate to much heat and burn them selfs out? (previous car didn't do this and the elements went if you left the switch on too long)

Yes they definately go on when you switch the rear screen demister on AS WELL AS automatically when the temp drops below 5 degrees... it works exactly as on the Golf with the added bonus of being auto as well...

Are you sure about the automatic part ?? I know they come on when the window is turned on but I never see them heat automatically.

The Owner's handbook only states the automatic part below 5 degrees. It does not state that they come on via the rear screen demister button... but they do. Maybe they have it wrong? You don't really notice it either. Your mirrors will just stay dry and you'd be none the wiser...
