I currently own a Seat Leon TDi SE and before that a Bora 2.0 Sport (VAG theme). I'm now really interetsed in the TDi Sport, and waiting for Audi to get back to me to sort a test drive out.

I'm after general opinions of dealers and the car itself of course. The running costs look on paper that I should be making a saving over my current TDi, £85 tax my insurance would come down to the £280 (25 years old full NCB and additional driver, based Shropshire) and obviously the fuel consumption of 67mpg combined.

What do people really get from there TDi as all of my driving to and from work consists of 80mph down the motorway fof a distance of 26miles each way.

Hope Audi contact me soon as its been 24 hours since the request off the web site for the test drive[13]

I shouldn't get your hopes up - it's eight months since I filled in my request - and a further one for a brochure...[B)] I gave up and test drove one down at my local dealer (grrrr...) and then bought through drivethedeal.com when the dealer offered me a whopping £0 discount [1]

For a test drive its quicker to go to a dealer.

Avarage mpg can be anywhere between 50-65 but for your trip I would expect the higher.

I love our TDI to bits and more impressed know than when I first got it.

I do 50 miles each way in my TDi doing roughly 80mph as well and 90% motorway and ALWAYS get 52 to 55mpg on the DIS screen as average...

my dealer (Gatwick Audi) gave me the keys and said I can go and drive around on my own as much as I want! They offered me 5% discount WITHOUT ME EVEN ASKING... but I bought from Docklands Audi in the end who gave me 6% discount (this was Oct 2001)

Ade also got free insurance thrown in on top of a discount... so deals are to be made at dealers... IF you're prepared to do the legwork. EF MAX's local dealer in Reading also gave hime stupid quotes and then the dealer in Brighton gave him everything he wanted with a discount AND good service... so shop/phone/email around for best deal...

Also ask for already ordered but unallocated cars... I got exactly the spec I wanted, and delivered within 9 days from order...

Dicky, we bought our A2 from the Audi dealership in Shrewsbury (just changed names from Vincents to something I can't remember!), they were excellent regarding the test drive, and OK to deal with regarding a discount. They kept us informed as to when the car would be built and when we should expect it to arrive from Germany - all in all they were pretty good, and as they'e possibly the only dealership in Shropshire (?), they're certainly worth checking out.

I do 33 miles each way every day on the motorway at about 80mph, and return 50 to 55 mpg week after week. I've never managed better, but I've got a heavy right foot!!!

Good luck with the A2 hunt. My A2 history is potted (!) but I chopped my 1.6S Leon in for my first A2.

How do you find the LEON, and why the change down to an A2?. Purely MPG?.
