I guess you all might have seen the Ian Hislop ebay thingy last night?
Take a look on ebay today - i.e. search for Ian Hislop
If you didn't see it, then during last nights 'I have got news for you', they showed a signed picture of Ian on ebay going for 65p or something like that, with only 6 views. Within 10 seconds when I looked, the views had gone to over 600 and the bid was at £1.26, and then the power of advertising kicked off. Within seconds, the views went up in 10's of thousands, and the bids started flying up into the hundreds and then thousands of pounds. Finally some idiot registered a new user and bid £10,000,000 (which today I see has gone, and someone else has bid the same amount).
I feel a bit sorry for the people auctioning the picture for charity though - would have been nice to get some genuine bidders
