Hi Peeps

I need some help and advise please

My A2 is a 1.4 tdi o2 plate.
The problem that I have is when indicating left or right., when I indicate left or right the flasher on my dash flashes for about a second and then it stops flashing and even the noise stops when indicating and even when I checked to see if they are still flashing outside but they have also have stopped flashing but when I put my hazards on all the lights flash continuous with no problems.

Any ideas what maybe wrong?

I'm sure someone more technically minded will be along shortly, but it sounds like the indicator relay to me.

It is a known failing, so do a search on the forum.

It should be a DIY replacement; if indeed this is the problem.

You could also try to locate someone near you with the specialist equipment capable of undertaking a diagnosis for faults too.

Cheers,

Darren

Hi.

Sounds EXACTLY like the problem I had. I replaced the flasher relay with a new one and it is spot on now. Quite expensive at about 24 quid and quite fiddly to do, but took me about 30 mins all in.

The control unit contains two relays, one for flash and one for hazards. The flash relay will have probably gone in yours (quite common) and it is possible to dismantle the unit and replace just the relay with one from Maplins. Depends how good you are with electronics/soldering.

HTH

Cheers,

Do you have a step by step guide how to strip and change the relay with using the original audi relay? as i would like to do the DIY myslef

Many thanks guys

I just went and got the part from Audi and then called the RAC and then the guy fitted the part for me and it all works fine....it must of taken him like 10 mins to do..well happy with that...

Thanks guys for all your help : - )
