intake air temp sensor

Intake air temp sensor: are you referring to the air entering the engine or the air entering the cabin?

Cheers,

Mike

That's OK.

The air intake fpr the engine is metered by the MAF, or air mass sensor. It is dead easy to locate, just look for the big black tube on the drivers side of the engine bay (rhd) - it's about 75mm in diameter and has a device in it held in place by 2 silver grey clips. There is a 2-pin connector going to it as well. This is the MAF.

Why are you interested in the air intake sensor?

Cheers,

Mike

while i was in there looking for my reversing light switch
interested where this sensor was thats all
engine bay looks realy tight to me ..fiddly

I'm going to attempt to take the MAF sensor apart this weekend as I now have the cleaner spray for electrics - hope the cures the intermittant fault.

Given that the MAF seems common for a few of us I wonder if it is a recall?

Hi knocker
Ther is also a combined air pressure and temp sender in the pipe from the top of the charge air cooler. It's well hidden but if you stand beside the drivers side front wing and look towards the front of the car (bonnet off) the wiring connector to the sensor is just visible (below the 'U' shaped cutout in the plastic moulding on the attached picture)

Cheers Spike
