Just found this piece on the floor near the car…

So it’s been windy recently. Went to my car this morning to find a panel of aluminium on the floor. At first I was dreading that the catalytic converter might have been stolen but I think this is just some sort of cover. I’ve attached a picture. Can someone tell me where it’s from and if it looks damaged. I hope I can just reattach it.

Afternoon,

This picture will show you where it’s supposed to be:

As for refitting it, yes totally possible. It looks like it has corroded away at the fixing points though, denoted by the large holes but some big enough washers should do the trick. I know my MOT guy usually cuts up a fizzy drink tin can to make heat shield repair patches for me whilst underneath the A2 which last a few years.

Kind regards,

Tom

Keeps the road spray down protecting the fuel filter from the worst of it. Also keeps a little pocket of air that can help prevent the fuel filter waxing up.
