Limited throttle and power response

Hi all

The wife has a 1.4 petrol 2001 106,000 FSH. Just lately the oil warning light has occasionally started to flash and then the engine seems to cough and splutter with a lack of power (like a safe mode?). After stopping and turning the engine off and then re starting it seems to clear, although the oil warning light stays on constantly. The local garage have had the diagnostic kit on it and can find no faults?????

Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

Hi can i first ask if its an oil level warning or oil pressure warning? i have recently heard of a couple of 1.4 petrols that have had oil strainer issues causing oil starvation. There are other options so give us a bit more info to limit it down a bit.
