Milltek exhaust?

I have just purchased a milltek stainless exhaust for my A2 and just wanted to know if i would require some sort of sleeve adaptor to mate it to the original downpipe?

Skipton aka(mike) i wonder if you could give me some advice as i know you have a milltek exhaust fitted.

I will be fitting it myself to save some cash.

Cheers,
Paul :)

Hi Paul,

If it was the one on Ebay, it only comprised of the silencer I think - you ideally need the other pipe, which goes the length of the car, as well.

This pipe, has the reducer rolled into the end of it. You could always get in touch with Milltek and ask if they'll do you one, or try some other pipe factors to see if they'll produce one for you.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi mike,

Yes it was the one on ebay, although the exhaust in the auction was for a <2003 small tank model and my car is a 2005 big tank  luckily the guy had another one which is the correct part number.

I gave milltek a call too and the front pipe is £58.

Cheers
Paul.

Just browsing the milltek website i noticed a little bit of info on the new Audi A1.

Supermini - Audi A1 1.4 TSi

Milltek exhaust release Date - 2008

So we could see the new A1 earlier than expected!

I managed to fit the Milltek exhaust today and wont be doing another exhaust in a hurry :D. What i didnt realise is that the A2 exhaust is one piece and to remove it it has to be cut off.

Anyway it took me a few hours to do as i was having trouble putting the new rear box into the rubber hangers. A quick brain wave and i realised that spraying the rubbers with wd40 the box went straight on. The exhaust looks very much stealth which i very much like, no big exhaust on this baby just an oversized pipe compared to the standard box.

There is not much difference in sound in fact it sounds a little quieter except it has a slight warble from the rear on tick over. I am not sure what it sounds like whilst quickly accelerating as i didnt want to cause the exhaust sealent paste to get blown off by the cars monsterous power ;) i will try that once it has sealed itself properly.

I took the car out down the road earlier and instantly noticed more torque and responce whilst pulling away gently. It seems like the standard exhaust was very restrictive before but now the car seems to want to go,go,go without much effort.

Next up is fitting a green performance filter in the next few days then possibly a tweek on a rolling road.

I did consider fitting a induction kit but after excessively reading up on TDI modifying it seems that an induction kit would be prone to sucking up all that hot air from the hot engine reducing power where as fitting a performance filter inside the filter box would protect it from such heat intake and draw cold air from outside the vehicle. It would also make the TDI sound even more like a tractor!
All in all i am very pleased with the results!

I believe Milltek have stopped producing the exhaust for the A2(right/wrong?)

Question is,if I was able to lay my hands on one would this fit the petrol model.

or would I be better off getting a custom one made as I'm not a fan of the other aftermarket ones with the exposed Tailpipe hanging below the bumper.

Opinions please.

Hi Herusix,

The exhaust is still available try www.edworthys.co.uk i think it is for the TDI only though but give Milltek a call as it may fit the petrol???

The tailpipe is standard looking and sits in the same place as the original exhaust.

I have a discount code so PM me before you order.

Not if you put it inline with the air intake, which is under the service flap. All you'd be doing then is bypassing the tortuous route that the air takes, going through 2 180 degree changes before arriving at the MAF.

Mike, i have a new Green induction kit here but just need to find a reducer hose for it.

I will probably fit that at a later date, if you think it will work all ok.

Thanks Mike,
I will take a look and see what parts i would need when i fit the filter.

Does the car need to be jacked up at the front to access the filter box?

Yes, as you need to remove the lower tray to access it.

Cheers,

Mike
