My A3 is broken!

Got in car on Tuesday, put it in reverse on DSG, applied gas and the gearlever jumped out back in to neutral. Managed to hold gearstick and reverse out of space, no probs with car in D or S or manual and gearshift paddles still worked, no warning symbols (manual stated if it was a gearbox fault reverse wouldn't work and warning symbol would flash). Drove home, called RAC, RAC followed me to dealership, courtesy car arranged and delivered to my office (A4 avant 1.9TDi hire car), call this morning car is fixed - nothing more than a circlip coming lose on the gearstick button.
 
Nice and simple - that must have been a relief! I have a friend who recently got a Golf GTI with DSG - he loves it!
 
It was a relief. Full marks to the RAC and Bradford Audi for the way the problem was handled. Everyone did as promised. Car was fully valeted when handed back including tyre dressing and they even polished the exhaust trims which were very sooty!
