My key keeps loosing it code

can anyone say why my key for A2 keeps loosing it memory.

I replaced the battery and then resync'd it with the car as it says in the owners handbook, ie. press unlock, insert into ignition, turn on ignition, turn off remove key then press unlock again.

It is ok of a few hours but then it fails to lock or unlock on the buttons.

can anyone help?
 
It's possibly the key, but more likely the convenience unit.

Do you have both keys and is the problem only with one?

I have tried the second key and seems to be ok, is it common for the keys to fail? Seems odd that the dodgy key can be resync'd it and it is ok for a bit then fails.

How much is a convenience unit?

Has anyone had to fit a new one?
