Newbie - potnetial owner seeks advice

Hi peeps,
New around these parts, 1st post in fact.

Looking at the pruchase of a 1.4 Tdi SE, 53 plate.

I just wonder if anyone has, or can point me in the direction of, a list of any (if any) recall notices that the car may have been subject too.

Any other help on what to look for in a used A2 of that age would be most helpful.
Already read a few stickies on here somewhere, that have been extremely useful so far - just want to arm myself with as much info as possible before goign "into battle" with the dealer.

Does anyone have an accessories catalogue from that far back?

there's people here more qualified than me, but my very short haggle/checklist would be...

anti roll bar bushes
cambelt
cracks around door hinges
uneven tyre wear
check all electrics are functioning

Check the contents of the boot too; space saver jack etc. If it's tyre gunk, check the date as it's not cheap!
Don't be afraid of lifting the bonnet off and having a good old browse, especially for impact damage.

You don't mention if you're after a 75 or 90TDI so that's worth a check too, red I and rear discs on the 90.

There are some brochures published on here, somewhere I think.

As you'll have seen in other posts mileage is not really an issue apart from the 'big' services, so check the DIS for when its service is due and if it's longlife of not.
