Newbie with no car

Hi all,
I am a newbie without an A2 at the moment.
Need a car and the A2 really appeals to me.
I like the fact that it is a quality car but economic to run.
I am considering the petrol version. I have seen this advertised:

1.4 SE with FSH. 2003 (03) 75k miles. 8 months MOT £2600

Does that sound reasonable? It is from a dealer.
I havnt actually driven or even been in an A2 yet!
Normally cover 10k miles a year mostly commuting to work.
Location: Chichester
Thanks for any advice

The FSH is very important.
The mileage seems fine
The price is not bad, but totally depends on the condition (of course)
I would suggest you test drive a petrol and then test drive a Diesel (TDI)
They are both quite different in the way that they drive, both great cars, but different.

I am sure that you will like the A2 a LOT, but everyone is different and a test drive is vital before deciding on a model of car.

If you were closer I could have obliged with a test drive of each.

I don't suppose you visit the Heathrow area much?

Thanks for the replies.
Just spoke to dealer and he didn’t fill me with confidence.
Hasn’t been serviced since august last year.
FSH is with independent garages
2 former keepers
Cam belt done at 42K in 2009

will definately test drive before buying

Thanks for the offers of help.

Lancing is closer than Heathrow to me.

Will see if I can get over there.

The "not serviced since last year" wouldn't worry me that much.

Just a tip though - if any dealer offers to carry out a service for you, ask for a discount instead, chances are they would just change the oil and not much else (if that)

MUCH better to get it to your own selected garage and get it checked and properly serviced.

With the cam belt changes, they are so important that you should not just rely on the "tick" in the service history (how easy is it to tick a box !). If there is a receipt for the job, then fine, otherwise plan on getting it done yourself (so allow for this in your cost of purchase).

Shame you weren't closer, I could have inspected it with you and showed you the differences between petrol and diesel (no charge!)

Hi "Undecided" have a look at the post in "Colour Storm" just added.

Worth a look or is Leeds too far?

Wise advice on the servicing Stevie B - thanks.

will phone back and see if there is a receipt for the cam belt.

its a bit of a hike to see that one so need to be sure its worth the effort.

Leeds is definately out of my range. Got no car at all at the moment.

Shame cos there seems to be a lot of choice up north.

seen another one not too far away

Audi A2 1.4SE 2002 78k miles petrol
