open sky - is it worth it?

in answer to the original post .... sorry ;)
the open sky is superb and when we bought our A2 back in 2003 a defining feature
here in 2008 still extremely rare
it does clunk sometimes on opening and occasionally take 2 or 3 attempts but once open feels great and looks very coooool
was on our "must have" list when we were hunting out our car

Skipton, with all those "extras" to get that sort of mpg I think you must have an agreement with a local garage that you drive your car to the bottom of the hill and they put it on a flat bed transporter and return it back to the top of the hill that way :p
ps ours is an Fsi .... so never going to be in the same mpg league as you guys and gals of the black tail plummage variety :D

OSS is magic, especially here, as it's generally (even in summer) only 25 degrees... which means during the summer I can open the window and the roof and away we go. I'd see it as being superb in france, too - open a crack to let the heat out of the car while it's in the sun.
The insulational ability of OSS is pants tho', which is why my "blind" has a reindeer skin attached. Helps a lot. You southerners won't need it as you only really notice below -10 or so ;)

Hi kateblundell,

I do not have open sky, but I also do not have a black interior. I specified a beige interior as I liked the look of it from the brochures and do not regret it. I have sat in an A2 with a black interior and no open sky and I know what AMG means when he describes it as claustrophobic. I was gob smacked. I cannot say that my beige interior is claustrophobic; filthy in places, yes, but a good clean brings it up a treat.:)

John.

I didn't think about that aspect at all - thankyou !
