I live in switzerland and just bought a 2004 a2 1.6
the manual is in german and would like to know best way to get one in english.

Try VagParts. I'm sure they can get just about anything for VW / Audi cars and they ship to most countries. As an A2oc member you can get extra discount providing you get the club discount card and run through the registration process before ordering

The dealer will ship you the book. I went to an Audi dealer in Sweden. The price was about 15EUR and I had to wait a couple of weeks to get it.
