Probably a daft question, but if you aren't certain which parts are where, have you tried looking at the 7zap diagrams for the front and rear door actuators?

I was directed to 7zap by other folk here and confer with 7zap diagrams with almost every issue that arises with my cars - they are usually a pretty good starting point for dry information. NO. The small thin cable is how the exterior handle opens the doors, so both front and rear have them. Check again and study the video, the guy even shows you the little cable when he is showing how the lock works. Especially pay attention at 1:00, 2:20 and 3:30. I personally have now used this method on 7 cars, VW , Audi and Seat and it has worked every time. On most of them the cable was too far into the exterior handle and the other 2 the little cable was broken.
