I had an intermittent horrible scraping noise coming from the left front wheel for a while, speed dependent, got worse when turning left, but usually started after going over a bump. Eventually realised it was the pressed metal shield that sits behind the brake disc that had corroded away from its bolts and was floating between the brake disk and the hub, sometimes making contact with the rim - was able to jack the corner up with the wheel removed and take it out.
As Darren said, pings are often indicative of broken springs. Scraping - but in your case coming from both front wheels - again as Darren said, undertray, or possibly the plastic inner wheel arches if these are coming adrift (as these are continuous with the sides of the undertray) - if it is these, a pack of plastic push-rivets re-attaching these to the various mounting points inside the wheel arch and some cable ties could be a simple solution. Main thing is take a wheel off with the car safely jacked / supported and have a look at the hub and inside the wheel arch and see if anything (trim, brake shield etc.) is obviously loose and whether you can see the top of the spring on each side. Getting the inner arches and undertray properly located when rebuilding takes a bit of fiddling and not all people working under there take as much time and care as is necessary sometimes.
