Poorly heater /aircon HVAC

Been quite a while( 5 months) since I used the car and all the flaps and controllers seem to have frozen in the last used position.
Is there a way of nudging them free?
 
Try the up and down method Simon...rotating the temp and flap positions over and over until hopefully they become free.
 
Cycling temperatures and flaps should work.

It's a reminder that amongst routine maintenance to-do list a low-high-low temp and flaps position cycle, performed on regular basis, should prevent this from happening.
 
Do you have VCDS? Can't exactly remember but in HVAC block 001 it will cycle all the flaps through 1-255 if I remember correctly.
 
Yes I do and have tried 001. Seems stuck on 254 With no movement showing. Have tried functioning all the air output controls but they are all full on all the time so the 254 would seem to correct.
 
The manual cycling may work, alternating from lo to high and selecting the various output directions one at a time. Have you tried the output tests in VCDS. Also run the tests with the engine running in case battery voltage is too low.
Once you have some movement use VCDS 001 again.

Ross Tech always advise to ignore intermittent faults. I always get at least half a dozen on my A2. A/C works perfectly!
