Power steer noisy servo/pump?

Hi all,
Since owenership of my 04 1.6fsi the power steer makes noises like Robocop is under the bonnet! All seems to work okay just noisy (servo's or pump) even with minor adjustments of the steering wheel - is this normal?

I think mine makes the same noise as your describing, some of my friends have even laughed about it in the past.. I did ask a mechanic once if it could be a worn steering rack but he said it was in ok condition.....

Hopefully someone might know more..
