Ive noticed that more and more people are adding pictures to their profile signature. Not wanting to be left behind could someone explain how to do this.

Is it best to save my image in a GIF format?

Read the "A2OC/Forum Discussion" board, topic "inserting images into post". That will tell you how!.

Steve - 2002 1.4SE petrol, Silver, black/black interior, Then an identical replacement 2003 A2. Now a Toyota Corolla 1.6 T-Spirit

Mal - JPG format is typically smaller than GIFs and so will load quicker. However if you animate the images like Johann's and mine, then it has to be saved as a GIF.

Are you coming to the club social?

Yep, simplest way for animations is a gif. You can get plenty of freeware/shareware gif animators if you don't have anything already.

Mal2002 best way to discover the "secrets" of a signature is to hit the "reply with quote button"... then you can see exactly what the file is and how the signature is set up with colour, size of font etc...

Thanks for the offer Ade, I make take you up on that. All I need to do is get my recent pics developed. (Its about time I invested in a digital camera and got into the 21st century:))

I know, I got one in January and it's changed my photo taking completely. I take many more, review and bin quite a few which you'd normally pay processing for, don't have to pay for films and with 340Mb of storage I can take about 175 4Mpixel shots before I have to get them processed.

Ideal! :D

I got my new digicam last weekend... brilliant! It even takes video with sound is no bigger than a pack of playing cards!!! Pentax optio S:

http://www.jessops.com/search/viewp...=&SHOWCASEID=&STARTROW=1&SUBS=&WORD_SEARCH=Y&

I have spent so much money on getting pictures developed and printed that I don't want... and as much as I love my Pentax SLR it was just too darn big and touristy to carry around... I got all my films put on CD every time so that I can email them etc... but a pure digital camera as far far better... AND the fact that it takes short video is just such a hoot!!!

Today got a Sony camcorder:

...have not played with the latter yet as the battery is still charging!!!

Well, I can certainly recommend my camera also, they do a 5.0 Mpixel version now (plus the link below is from a good reputable place to get them from online at good prices)....

Canon Powershot S45

The beauty of these is that they take the Hitachi (formerly IBM) Microdrive

I have a Canon Powershot A20, quite old hat now, only 2.1 Mpixel. But it takes a superb photo which I can then print off and put in a frame.

Is it really worthwhile getting a camera for general use with over 3 Mpixel. This will give plenty of detail for a printout on A4.

For images taken with our camera, see here - www.robspage.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk - the site drastically needs updating, just haven't got the time.

Not unless you plan on doing a lot of work on the PC to crop and expand portions of images (I do tend to dabble).

The main reason for me going with this one was that I already owned a Microdrive (for my laptop) and hence to overlook the storage capabilities that brings would have been silly. This narrowed my choice considerably, but still left the Canon ones which I wanted. Mine also takes video + sound footage which can be useful for adhoc filming, but best to use a camcorder for dedicated video.
