question about service interval indicator

When I start up my A2 Sport, I get a message that says 'Service!' on the digital display, albeit only for a few seconds. This indicates a service is due, is that correct?

My garage forgot to reset the indicator the last time they had the car, and have offered to come round to my house to do this, but have asked me whether my service indicator is set to indicate per miles or per ...(I'm not sure, useage&mpg?), as this determines what tool they need to bring to reset it. Does this make sense? What are the two settings, and how do I find out what to tell the garage?

Many thanks

Right.
But you can reset the interval to the every year service yourself. Just read the manual.
But if you want it reset to longlife interval, they need a Laptop and the VAG COM software to reset it.
