No, mostly because I haven't bought one yet but it's an opinion formed from a couple I've test driven. After driving down in the Polo to look at them they then seemed very flat in comparion, the pedal needing much more of a prod to maintain momentum. FSIs and TDIs have felt much better. Ultimately the 1.4 winds up adequately (roadtest figures show it to be a lot quicker than the Polo 60bhp) but they seem harder work to trundle along in a commuting manner

Just a thought, could it be the change in height when you are driving which gives the impression it is slower? That was something which took me by surprise when I did a comparison from my old car and this one.
