I need to clean the seats, and was wondering is it possible to remove the rear seats and then unfold them, and what would be involved in removing the front seats.

cheers
Alan

To open up the front seats whilst out of the vehicle, you'll need to push in the collars on the studs under the seats (the ones with a bl**dy great spring behind them).

I'd suggest you didn't remove the front seats, as they contain an airbag, which you need to keep disabled with a special plug in device (only available from a dealer, and then, only if they think you know what you're doing with it!).

Many people will suggest you don;t need to do this, but if you are wiping/hoovering the seats, the chances are you'll get a static build up which could trigger the bag. Best to do any cleaning in situ.

Cheers,

Mike

On that subject I cleaned my front two seats. I hadnt done them for about 5 months and there was choc and loads of stuff on them, water marks being cream, they look a bit better but it does not how they was when I got the car after it had a proper clean.

I used the autoglym interior shampoo. Just wondering is there anything else I can use cos it uses nearly a bottle on the two front seats and it still has those kind of water marks in different places now. I cleaned the whole area of the seats.

Cheers Mike, I had attempted budging those springs but gave up after several near decapitations.
I think I will leave in them in situ, and hopefully after a wet shampoo and a dehumidifier on over night, will be back to new.

Cheers Alan

Richard.
I use a standard Bissell, and it brings them up new, in previous cars. I have used all different types of aerosol shampoo, and find none of them do the job.

You really need the services of a proper upholstery cleaning specialist. They'll use at least a steam cleaner, or most probably, a type of portable dry cleaner.

Cream seats are the worst in terms of showing marks, but as long as they're not stained with ink or similar, they should come up like new.

Cheers,

Mike
