I noticed a more robust design of dipstick on an 03 reg TDI loaned to me whilst my 52 reg FSI is having a fault sorted.
The TDI has a twisted stainless wire cable with an orange plastic tip and flat guage section.
The FSI has what can only be described as a bit of strimmer-type plastic rod with a corrugated black plastic guage at the end, which is imposible to read.
Does this represent a change of heart by Audi?
