Rusty Boot light Replacement...

So, I've got a corroded boot compartment light, and have just picked up another to replace it. Can't get the old plug off so I'm going to cut it and use a connector to the new light. Do I have to pull a fuse before i start hacking away.... if so, which one?

I managed to get the plug off but it's full of rust. I don't know how I'd clean it up it's so small..

Spray in switch cleaner then mate and inmate the connector several times. Repeat this a few times if it’s not too badly corroded it will come back to life. The fill it with petroleum jelly
Alternative is splice in a new connector from one of the breakers @A2Steve

Yeah, I've got a light unit with a plug on it from A2steve... What kind of cleaner do you recommend.. and petroleum jelly -(do you mean vaseline?)... failing that- I'll splice on the new unit..

Yes Vaseline is indeed petroleum jelly.

Yep, sprayed it(WD40), Mated a couple of times and it is Now WORKING!!... Thanks depronman & steve_c. ??Will have to apply Vaseline later,- to the plug , that is...?
