Thanks Roy boy. Travelodge has been pitched as one of the potential options bug they not accepting online bookings for May 19 yet . Stayed there in April it was clean and comfortable. No onsite parking at that time though.
Can we tempt you across to Eilean a Cheo for a day trip?
You park round the back mate in their carpark its a bit of a free for all though.
The Alex someone mentioned earlier is fine too.
Will see mate about it nearer the time as a Tag along but have relations I can stop with.
Hope everyone comes via Glen Coe

The Premier Inn in FW is getting more expensive for the Friday, just booked our room and it's £14 more than was mentioned in the Whatsapp group chat earlier in the day. Must be running out of rooms!

We've also booked the Premier Inn in Dumbarton for the Monday night, just far enough away to warm up the engine before hitting the motorway in the morning. £79 for the room and add breakfast to suit.

The Friday is going to be a looooooong drive. Having to take daughter out of school so only want it to be the last day of the half term. Hoping some friends in Telford can have us on the Thursday night, we can make that after school run.

I wonder who has the longest drive to Fort William? Mine is 480 miles and 9hrs 12 minutes (no stops) according to google maps (my money is on Sarge or Steve B)

Mine works out at 520 miles using the same roads. But strangely enough it indicates 8 hours 58 mins !!!

It must know that I drive like a nutter!

Steve B
Just re checked mine as I’m working away from home at the moment and it picked up my current location, a wee bit more now as @murdo would say ?

We'll be starting from Chesham, NW of London so can't quite match that, it's coming out at just under 500 miles up either side of the country. Will be long enough though!

We are all within a few miles of each other but i'd say Steve being roughly 20 south of me has the furthest out of the 3 of us. What's the prize for the longest travelled A2 on this trip? ;)

Proghound do you live in Chesham? Were only a few miles down the road in Rickmansworth.

We booked the Premier inn Fort William last night including breakfast. So thats us sorted Murdo. Monday night we're staying in or around Inverness ready for the jump to the top and back down the West coast, so if any of you are still up there give us a wave to a pine green A2 if you see us. :)

Lynette and I live in her house in Chesham, I commute to my house here in Leighton Buzzard to work from home ... weird setup but it suits.

Depending on the weather we may take a detour on the way back from Applecross - you can't go all that way and come back without having driven down the side of Loch Ness when it's that close! Quite glad not to be staying in FW on the Monday at the price that Premier Inn is charging, they must be coining it in! We'd better be getting our guaranteed good night's sleep on the Friday for that money ...

I think that is cheating!!! You are not travelling from there to the social !!!

I am off to Singapore soon for work so I will try the distance from there!!!!
Sorry Steve but thats my home starting point alright, now do I win a prize before someone else pipes up from the South ??

In walk the heavies ;-) we’re winning I think, @A2Steve ; 497 miles, but route finder says we’ll do it in 8h30....I’m sure our SatNav will have something to say about that though; it’s the same one that took us down the bike path on the Welsh social :’-D

We’re doing the same stopping over on the Thursday to make a day of it. Then only four hours to FW on the Friday. Easy ;-)

That was so funny, really funny... I am so glad we didn't meet a cyclist or mother with pushchair coming the other way, but it must have looked comedy gold. :D

If we take both A2's do we win with almost 1000 miles one way?

Piping up from the southwest here. 557miles to Fort William. Not confirming attendance yet but certainly got it noted in the diary.
M
Oh my goodness Mike. Yes you will definitely win. Would be good if you can make it. We will have to have beer waiting for when you arrive!
