Second time round

Today we got ourselves an 2002 A2 1.4 TDI SE.
This would be our second Audi A2, as we've had won a Petrol 1.4 A2, which we won when they first came out. Unfortunately it was utter rubbish, as some of you may know; the A2 can be plagued with problems (e.g. cutting out at speeds).
We required a car to do high mileage at a cheap cost, so we bit the bullet and went for a diesel A2 with 53k on the clock. Our drive is getting full up with the amount of cars we've got, hopefully we can make some space to slip in the A2.

We have the following cars
Vauxhall Astra Estate 1.8 petrol auto
Smart Forfour 1.5 95bhp diesel
Smart ForTwo
And soon to be, the A2

Hello to you all, hope this will be a nice start to a fun future!!! (Maybe)

XXXXX :D

Hi A2return2,

A very warm welcome to the A2OC.

Very pleasing to note that an initial bad experience hasn't put you off the car; remember anything mass produced will have some rogues amongst their number.

Hope your newly acquired model is 100% reliable in comparison and you have many years of enjoyable trouble free motoring.

A2OC is full of friendly like-minded folk with a wealth of experience, so you will never be short of info. If a subject hasn't been covered before, never be afraid to ask; you will always receive a sound response from one of our members.

Best wishes,

Darren

Thank You

Can you please tell me how cold the Climate Control can go. I love to be cold and can't stand to be warm?

The minimum settting is 18 celcius, but there is also a 'Lo' setting, which basically keeps things as frosty as you would want them to be!

Cheers,

Mike

Thank you Mike

Mike when you say frosty I hope you mean icy cold, the only reason I ask is today I noticed it wasn't very cold........., it's going to be regassed. So I hope that improves things. We are not paying for that the dealer is. I am worried as I said in other post we had so many problems with our other brand new petrol A2 and the Audi main dealer still a bit scared and wonder if we have made a mistake in buying it even if it is now a second hand car 2002 1.4 TDI SE we had the petrol.
All views from other would be helpfull 2 calm my nerves.

A re-gas should sort things out nicely - the chances are that it's never been done since leaving the factory and so it's 5 years old now and overdue a re-gas.

I wouldn't worry overly about the car - fingers crossed anyway.

Cheers,

Mike

Hi Darren
Even though the dealer is paying for the re-gass it would be in their (and your) interest to have a diagnostic scan done first. (I'm assuming you did not buy it from an Audi garage) There are several temperature and pressure sensors in the climate control system and a malfunction of any one would cause the air con to operate at reduced efficiency. Many of the independent aircon specialists don't appear to be very clued-up about this or the A2 system.

Cheers Spike

Spike is correct. I had a broken sensor at the a/c outlet. It was simply burnt/worn out wires and that £14 part caused the A/C to work at much reduced efficiency as stated in the workshop manual. See here http://www.a2oc.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4542&highlight=sensor

All things said, I hope re-gasing will sort out your problem and you'll have a trouble free ownership with the A2.

Thank You

:) Thank everyone for all your help. Dealers has just phoned the garage have tried to regass hasn't made it cold "think it's could be a leak" but still clueless. so it is going of to the the aircon specialist to try to find the fault @ their cost not mine. Thank you again. X's
