CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME OR PROVIDE ME WITH PICTURES OF THE PART OF THE EXHAUST (NEAR THE FRONT WHERE THE NOX/LAMBDA SENSOR IS) AS THE GARAGE ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE CHANGED THIS PART BUT I HAD A LOOK TODAY AND NOTICED THAT THERE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A PIECE WELDED AS IF THERE USED TO BE SOMETHING THERE AND IT HAS BEEN REMOVED. THE ONLY REASON IM ASKING IS THAT IT WAS RUNNING FINE FOR A WEEK NOW ITS AS IF ITS PULLING AND WHEN YOU PUT THE FOOT DOWN THEN IT GOES BUT IS USING A LOT OF FUEL? I WOULD LIKE YOUR ADVICE/PICTURES SO WHEN I PHONE THE GARAGE BACK TOMORROW I HAVE A GOOD CASE.:mad::mad::mad:

MUCH APPRECIATED,

STEPHEN

Hang on and don't shout!

Firstly, what exactly are they supposed to have changed?

Secondly, I can't take a photo of mine, as there are no NOx/lambda sensors on diesels.

Thirdly, my exhaust is completely non-standard now so photos of it will be unlike ANY other A2!

If possible, send me photos of your front section and I'll comment from there.

Cheers,

Mike

Sorry mate I had the caps lock on!!!

They were supposed to have changed the lambda sensor but I suspect they haven't. Just next to it there is a sort of curved hole which has been welded over as if there was something there and now so they didn't have to fix the problem they have filled it in.
The engine management light was on and it was running rough before, I got it back and it was ok for a week and now its the same again.(The light is now off don't know if they have removed the bulb)
I'm thinking of getting rid of it as it is problem after problem and it's costing me a fortune in fuel

Steph try Dougans at Newmains cross. He has himself down as a VW/Audi specialist ,always found him to be pretty decent. Also don't get a scan done for anymore than £20 .Guy up my way (Forth) will stick it on for £20.:)

As far as I can recall, there should be no blobs of weld on the exhaust of the A2 - seams, yes, but blobs, no.

The light can't be turned off in the dash by removing a bulb, as all the indicators are actually surface mounted LEDs and to get to them requires a LOT of dismantling.

If they have bodged a repair by welding over a threaded hole meant to accept a lambda sensor, then I think a trip to the local small claims, as well as getting the police involved will be the order of the day.

Cheers,

Mike

mail me a picture at "fsiweld [at] ukeat [dot] com"

I will mail you back this evening with a picture of the same view from my A2 FSI. Better to do it this way, otherwise I could take a dozen pics trying to guess the spot you mean.
