Slapping metal!

If you're familiar with a weights machine you might know what I'm referring to.
I have developed a sound, over rough roads, that's very similar to when the weights 'kiss' each other.

ARB bushes and drop links have been ruled out.

Any feedback appreciated.

2002 1.4 TDI.

Broken springs? also check strut bearings

As sarge says check the springs, but the most common cause of metal on metal over bumps etc is the ARB.

If you have the old style bar, it only has to shift across a bit to start bashing on the underside of the car.
