Im sure this has been asked a million times but im a cautious character so will ask again.
My girlfriend is on the lookout for a replacement car for some time in the future when the right car comes up. She currently owns and drives a smart car 2001 owned since new. The car has done a grand total of 35,000 miles and has been maintained regardless. The car has also had some practical and some not so practical modifications. She was also a near founding member of a global smart club and we used to orgainse events/meets etc. You get the idea, she loves her cars she owns.
Anyway time to move to a more practical car and the A2 seems a good choice (although she is keeping the smart).
We have looked at a couple of A2's one which was a 1.6FSi and one 1.4 petrol. Idealy I would want a 1.4 diesel but due to the low milage a 1.4 petrol would fine.
Apart from the obvious wear and tear and milage issues, is there anything which these cars suffer from which I would need to look out for.
We would want a low milage car idealy with leather (which the smart has) and reversing sensors although these can be added. Service history etc etc would be a must.
Any tips?
Should we wait until the new release, will the older models then fall away in price?
Not in a rush as said but over the next 12 months would be good.
Thanks
S
