Today I.....

got some bits for the car. New fuel filler switch, new windscreen washer jets... so next weekend when it's hopefully warm, I can get the car up on axle stands and get the oil changed and the bumper off to rinse the screenwash tank and seal it. In the mean time, fighting with computers, trying to get the darned things to work and stay working, while trying and failing to find ways of avoiding quarantine in strange countries for the real job :/

Today I....... finally managed to set my clock to BST, having discovered a speed warning feature on the DIS, which beeped at me every time I went over 45mph on the way home yesterday?

Oh yes that’s a really annoying feature, I activated that by accident too and had to look up how to shut it up in the manual - I really don’t know what the use case for that was according to Audi!

So how do you activate and de activate that feature

From memory Paul,

You simply push the left hand needle opposed to pulling it to set the date/time.

When you list it, it registers your current speed as the speed to reach quietly, if you go over the recorded speed the cluster will beep.

To deactivate this you simply push the left hand needle and you’ll see a strike through the displayed icon denoting that the speed warning is disabled.

I might be slightly wrong but it’s something like that. I personally don’t use it. It is just one of those things that occur twice a year with the switch of BST.

All in the past for me now though with the glorious Colour DIS, to activate this feature I have to go through the lengthy ‘Jeremy Clarkson Launch Control Preparations’.

Kind regards,

Tom

Yes, it's as Tom says - I had to look it up in the manual!

Thankyou gents
I installed DIS last year but never found the time to read up on its hidden features
Please tell me it’s not the save volume level as the low fuel warning as that would be incredibly annoying

I'm not sure if it's quite as load as the low fuel warning, but it's not quiet! Once I realised what I had managed to set, I was preparing myself for it to beep every time I accelerated away from a junction!

It is!

Isn't it strange, the standard horn (i.e. to the outside world) is so weak and yet the interior horn to the driver is loud - they go it the wrong way around.
Agreed. The standard horn is pathetic!
Modified both mine.

I can confirm I now know how to set and importantly unset it. And yes it’s the same volume low fuel warning though only one beep and not three = only a minor heart attack instead of full blown defibrillator needed

Today I shared this video to my friends. Some believed it was true :) Just like the spaghetti trees. . .
A2 Gone Wild

... Left the a2 alone and changed the valve cover gasket and refreshed the Vanos seals on the E39. Love that straight 6.

Achieved my highest number of miles so far on a tank of diesel. It had only been zero for 5 miles or so but the next fuel station along is obscenely expensive so I saved the 600 milestone for another day!

Oh, and we started the intercooler change on Tonka.
