Today I.....

Calliper refresh time, fresh from the blaster, was in very much two kinds about replacements as they are not silly money for ATE callipers, but thought I try this first as I didn’t have to pay for the blasting and totals in at around 25£ for paint and new seals

Stay with pink. As above, I think the hoat ome is for weird metals protection in modern engines. The last green one probably just to colour match a other car manufacturer like bmw or something. Stick with simple and pink 💗

Today I… taxed Project PDK along with swapping the insurance over.

First real drive with the family in the coming hours followed by its first commute tomorrow morning.

The associated project thread does require an update which I’ll get to as soon as possible. What I can disclose though is that it’s got a lot less Swing but now has plenty of Soul!

Kind regards,

Tom

Hi guys, where do you get crush washer for the oil drain plug? Im planning to change oil soon and last time the ordered plug didn't fit, so I just used it's washer. Cheers

Today I will start the oil pump chain replacement in my TDI :)

Together with a lot of new parts (timing, crank seal, coolant, oil, filters, a bunch of different screws)...

Hoping to have this finished tomorrow :)

I am not sure which is the best supplier but at least I can share that the washer I am using for the oil drain plug is the Elring washer 726.760.

I'm trying to find 1L, G13 concentrate to fill up the coolant loss when the new Audi temp sensor gets here, cost £49!! o_O, but all I can find this new G12 EVO and all of them are "ready mixed", also suppose to replace G13.
Any news on that? Cheers

Yes you are OK to mix G12++ and G13 although slight loss of corrosion protection. I would use either G12++ or G13 as long as it is the same colour as existing coolant. If not it would be an ideal time to change the lot for whichever coolant you prefer.

I always prefer premixed as you can keep some spare and not have to worry about the dilution required when topping up.

That’s about 160k miles and that tensioner is worn out - fits with the consensus in the relevant thread on this exact topic that this job should be done at the next cambelt change after the car has passed 125-130k miles.
