Not today, but yesterday I fulfilled one of my "
A2 plans for 2021" and took it around the Nürburgring Grand Prix course after work.
Being able to attempt to take corners much faster than you'd usually do when there's trees or other objects next to the road turned out to be quite fun, driving the track in what was basically darkness at 8pm with dozens of 300-700hp cars in the rear view mirror was not.
?
Not great if you can't tell if the car behind is closing in at 150 or 250 kph.
Whenever I got a corner to myself though, I thought the car cornered fairly well for what it is (a bog standard ATL with a bunch of heavy extras), though I never bothered to full throttle the straights. I'm also guessing the corners could've been taken quicker yet as I never even managed to get the ESP to do anything or the budget 205 tyres to squeal.
Either way, good practice to see where the car's limit isn't. ?
If only the track photographers had been able to take a picture in the effectively nighttime session... bringing your own videocamera is supposedly
forbidden... ?
There's also videos of people out there
taking their 3L on the half-as-wide Nordschleife, but after this experience I'm not too sure anymore if I still want to be on a track that much more demanding with those same 700hp cars on it too. ?
A2 25th Anniversary Trackday for all the european clubs anyone? ?
