Tower of woe

I know ive been a pest with this, ive read on here that a new shaft is thinner than the old type,
would this be the problem i had with the new bearings? please anyone.
 
Well this is not good news, the parts on Autodoc seem to be just for the petrol version, after looking at Rotifer`s picture above
and going back to Autodac to check,this is the same part.

Did you have to send them back? As I could do with the petrol version if you still have it.

I don’t believe it would make much difference, as the sticky out bit moves the gears and as long as this is in the right place, should be good. But I’ve not seen everything part to say from an educated point of view

Well ive taken the tower back out, and ive found its scrap ! because the spring`s ? or spring (minds going numb) had snapped .What a design !!
 
Flip side, it's a perfect time to upgrade the box to a later VAG unit, new clutch if needed and a remap would be helpful!
