Trumpet noise

Car went in for a service came back with a funny fault. Every so often a low vibratoin noise rather like someone blowing through the mouth piece of a trumpet, vibrates through the dash board. i have had a look through the threads but can't find anything. This is not a constant noise but intermitant? Needless to say the car is going back but any ideas to give them a clue?

It might sound strange but have a search through the archives for 'moo' or 'mooing'. This might enlighten you a bit.

Mine always had the fault when I bought it but I eventually found a dealer who would fit the modified EGR valve under warranty - which rectified the problem.
