I've just got in the car and when I turned the key to start it, all the power in the car has gone out. No lights, no central locking, nothing. Yesterday I did some recoding to enable bleep on alarm, autolock doors etc with a new cable I just bought, and all seemed fine. Today I unlocked the car (no problems) and tried to start it and this has happened.

I am trying to scan the car now but the cable isn't receiving any power...

Have you checked the battery connections?
Also have you tried taking the battery connectors off for 20 minutes and then reconnect and see if you have any luck.
Did you test the new functions much after performing the update yesterday?
Do you have anyway to check the battery?

Ok...I put a multimeter across the battery and reseated the earth cable and it fired right up...

My first guess was going to be battery, judging by my current staring troubles.

Breath a sign of relief, i hate that feeling when just nothing happens, it worse then when it almost works!!

The worst thing is when you forget the battery is disconnected and close the boot...
It is invariably painful to get at the battery from inside!

Thanks for the help. A worrying 30 minutes that was! Was getting paranoid that a bad cable had somehow fried my ecu... Was able to pop the emergency boot release and get to the battery
