Hi all had my A2 tdi for 2 weeks, Checked the oil on sunday and it was a little low to say the variable service say 15000 to go! Went to audi at bedford and asked for a bottle for topping up and they sold me Shell ultra long life 5w30 ( vw507) anyone know if this is right as I thought it needed VW506.01 for variable service and that it was also 0W30.
Don't want to use the wrong oil so any help will be good.
Love the car and getting 59mpg around Milton Keynes so could not be happier

The oil you mention must be Shell Helix Ultra VX 5W30 in other words?

Any 5W30 or 0W30 is fine if they are specified 506.01 or 507.00.

507.00 is the right oil for the A2 TDI variable service, and is a later spec than 506.01.

You could also use Shell Helix Ultra-X 0W30 LL2 (specification 506.01) as an alternative.

If you decide to go for fixed service intervals, oil must meet 505.01, 506.01 or 507.00.

505.01 is rare to find though.

thanks just thought I'd check, now have managed to lose the end of the dipstick in the sump so looks like a new trip to the stealers:)
