What Oil for tdi 75?

So i've just spent the last hour traipsing round several motor factors trying to find some oil for my A2. The manual only states that oil must be 506.00 or 506.01 spec. That's not much use when standing in front of a sparsely populated oil shelf at Halfords. Nearest i could get was 5w30 but that wasn't 506 rated.

Does anyone know a brand and W rating that i can just go and buy for the A2?

The dealer recommended Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30, which I bought from Halfords for £13.99 a litre. Quite expensive, but I have only used a litre over 15k miles, so not bad for a little oil burner!

The latest spec for A2 TDI and petrol engines is 507.00 and Castrol Edge 5W30 is usually available at Halfords. There is a bit more info on the attached thread
