wheel tracking

Hi I am a new member,only just found out about you which is a bit sad as I've had my lovely A2 for almost 7 years!!
My question is has anyone had problems with their A2 needing tracking frequently? Mine appears to keep going off and is costing me a fortune in new tyres! I do work in an area with lots of speed humps but I'm always really careful driving over them.
Any advice from anyone?

This is a common problem on most (all?) front wheel drive, transverse engined models across the VW-group range.

In the A2, it is an especially common problem due to the suspension loading being rated so high, more so on the Sport models.

When you do get a track done, get a 4 wheel track and alignment (cue the debate!!) and have it done at a specialist, not a high street chain and certainly not a dealers.

Inner edge wear is common and can be lessened if you use bi-directional tyres, which can be swapped around to give a more even wear pattern.

Thanks for that,I'll remember that when I get them done next week.I'm not quite sure what bi-directional tyres are but will find out!!

By bi-directional, I mean a tyre that can be fitted either way around on a wheel, something like a Pirelli P6000 for instance.

You can always use directional tyres (such as Goodyear Eagle F1), but to acheive optimal wear, you can only change from one sode of the axel to the other.
