Can anyone tell me what the purpose is of the black semicircle decal at the bottom of the windscreen. It’s stuck to the outside. I’m tempted to remove it as it obstructs the view of anything low to the ground closer than 8m away
I believe you are correct and the sweetie mice have been running through my head. I can’t find any other photos of this online ?In all my years of working on A2s, I have never seen this before. It's certainly non-standard.
Cheers,
Tom
If Tom's never seen one, it makes me wonder ...In all my years of working on A2s, I have never seen this before. It's certainly non-standard.
... It couldn't be your dad's old car you've bought by any chance, could it?The reason I ask is because my dad had an A2 years ago when they were new and his had the same decal There is no damage under it
No, it has had 2 lady owners from new. I have a 1" thick stack of invoices and MOT certificates including the Sales Quality Assessment when the car left the showroom. It was just my mind playing tricks on me lolIf Tom's never seen one, it makes me wonder ...

No, the screen is unmarked. I can see it from inside and it's nowhere near the wiper. It's had 2 lady owners from new so it's a mystery as to why it's there. I'll remove it at the weekend. Heat gun will make short work of itIs it to cover a groove caused by a failing wiper arm? Or to prevent one?
Maybe the dealer applied the decal?
Thumbs up for the dealer - provided you didn't have to twist his arm too much.No it had been there for some time by the effort it took to remove, even with a heat gun. They are paying the excess for me to have the screen replaced. I’m happy with that. The old screen looks original and has the usual tiny marks all over it from stones. I’ll have a new screen and will only cost me the time it takes to replace it ?
Try to get an OEM replacement. In my first A2 I had to replace my windscreen twice and the last one was made in China (Y something) and it was substandard, i.e. you could see it was slightly deformed, despite the insurer claiming it was OEM standard.
Just be careful if using your insurance if they ask you when the damage happened
