Often, like this, very difficult to tell trim colour from photographs, so much depends on the camera and ambient lighting.

If you have the car a quick method that might work. Pull out the cubby at the rear of the centre console behind the handbrake, the one designed to quickly come out to inspect the VIN or adjust handbrake. On the bottom is embossed the part number 8Z....267 but in addition a little white sticker with the trim colour code. You can identify the trim colour here, item 12,

Edit. I say might work as the sticker may have been lost, but you should see a glue residue were it was stuck on!:(.

From the shiny rather than brushed chrome on the door pull, and the black rather than chrome ring on the gear lever gaiter, this is an early car. So with the steering wheel being black, at least the doorcards and central console would surely have to be Platinum (the light grey scheme) to appear that light a colour. That said, those look like Swing (dark grey scheme) seats to me. Wouldn't be surprised if someone had done this, Platinum seats must take a lot of keeping clean.

Well - I have an early car (Sep 2000 build / Nov 2000 registration). My car also has the black gear gaiter - no chrome ring.

I have just checked and the sticker is actually there - 26Z = Swing Grey - the darker grey. So that has cleared it up for me. Thanks!

Interesting that all the 'vorsprung durch technik' - I have just confirmed my interior colour by reference to a label which looks for all the world like it came from the type of label gun I used when I priced tins and stacked shelves in Sainsburys in 1976!

YB is on the white trim sticker so SWING it is (dark grey) inc the seats i think they are not black

Im looking into my colour scheme too and the label in the boot states LZ5R N1D / YB. So from some research it seems as if its Atlantic blue pearl effect with Platinum trim but the seats seem to be platinum too and not the swing / dark grey seats as mentioned above. My build is 8/8/00 (approx 14.41pm from a label on the wiring near the A pillar) and registered 14/09/00. But my car has a chrome ring on the gear lever gaiter and brushed chrome door pulls. Any help on this matter would be much appreciated.

Your seats are the same as in my Oct 2000 car - Swing Grey is the interior colour and the seats are Satellite Cloth - Grey (an 'option' material).

Take it your car has a two colour dashboard - black upper and dark grey lower?

Platinum is a lighter grey. I have it on my 02 car but I don't even think it was available on such an early car as yours?

Yes. 2 tone dashboard, I thought they were all like this.

So if I need to source replacement trim I should be looking for swing grey door cards, weather strips, glove box (3 items that I need)

Many Thanks. I was going to sell the car once Ive sorted all the electrical niggles but seeing as its a very early example I may keep and restore to its former glory

Well the early cars were all two colour dashboards as far as I know. Later cars were often all black.

The brushed aluminium door pulls / gear lever ring etc are the 'Aluminium Pack' which was (I think) an optional extra on the early cars.

Been doing the same thing with mine - sorting electrical niggles. What are yours?

Alarm goes off when neighbour opens his A4, ABS / Traction control lights on / 3 beeps and red exclamation mark, Remote key does not work / 1 x rear brake light out (not the bulb) / 1 x reverse light out (not the bulb). Very much of a headache !!!

Ive replaced the ABS pump as advised by local audi specialist, just waiting for new abs sensors to arrive so I can check to see if they cancel the lights.

I am sure you'll get some suggestions on here.

Only one I can possibly help with is brake light. I had one light out and EPC dash light on intermittent. Then no brake lights and EPC light on all the time. New brake light switch resolved that. Cheap fix if not the easiest thing to get to (but there are some excellent 'how to' guides on here).

There is a guide on here too for re-synchronising the remote key assuming more than a weak battery).

Being an early car I would have thought it was swing grey, but from the photo it does look to be platinum (light grey) and in very good condition.

Steve - I thought that but I checked my car and the doorcards do look a lot lighter than the grey on the dash.

I did think that the door cards and seats looked like they are the same colour and yes they are in v good condition considering its a 19yr old vehicle. Just a few stains which need cleaning

Before I had the abs pump diagnosed (low pressure) I took the brake light switch out and re seated it as both the brake lights failed to operate along with the dash warning lights being illuminated. This seemed to clear the dash lights for a while but they soon returned along with the failure of both brake lights. I cant really test them again as Im waiting for new abs sensors to arrive and the car is on axle stands.

a few stains which need cleaning - yes got through a few tins of 'Instant Valet' myself!!!
